Denise: The Shetland Lace Scarf made with our hand-spun Uist Landscapes merino wool is always in demand, and has been even been bought by men as a surprise gift for their partners! It’s also the garment for which we’ve most often been asked – by experienced knitters – for the pattern. Until now we’ve always said that we can’t supply a copy of the pattern – because it is just a pattern in my head! However, after a long session yesterday spent with J downloading and converting to a suitable format for publishing, we are now in a position to supply a knitting kit, consisting of a pattern leaflet and two skeins of the Uist Landscapes merino wool of your choice. Here’s pages 1 and 4 from the leaflet. More information ⇒
Jonathan: It’s more than two weeks since Cleo died, and in that time life seems to have been nothing more than a treadmill of work: it’s b een difficult to see anything other than the next task immediately in front of me. Changes are a-foot, however, that will need me to stand back, take a wider view, plan ahead – and delegate. The workload will if anything be heavier yet, but with more shoulders to the wheel we should get more done, or done sooner. But, for now, back to the grindstone.
Jonathan: Didn’t get the tourism development job. Defnitely could use the money – of course: but had I got the job the 20hrs a week would have been at the expense of developing our own micro-enterprises, which in the end are what we’re here to do. But just now some regular income would have given us some reassurance – especially through the meagre winter months.
