Jonathan & Denise: New Year’s Day + Sunshine! = Walk. After lunch we set out through the walled garden’s west gate and up the track to the hill gate, where we turned … Och, but it’s easier to let you explore it yourself –
The map is completely interactive, and some of the waymarks have photos when clicked. Cool, Uh?
We walked anti-clockwise, but J hasn’t yet worked out how to indicate the direction of travel!
There was a brisk wind from the north, so our uphill route was on the south side of Eiseabhal, out of the wind. As we approached the summit, we gradually became more exposed to the wind, and when a hail shower struck we took shelter in the lee of a rock outcrop. It was bitterly cold at the summit! Tilly went racing round and round the cairn in a frenzy of activity – to keep warm.
It was a lovely walk. If you’re visiting Uist, you could download the route and put it on your smartphone or GPS and follow in our footsteps. We’re thinking of doing more like this, for walks from our two holiday lets.
