Harbour Seals — 3 Comments

  1. Seals do seem to be more likely to display themselves on these rocks at certain times than at others, but unsure of the pattern. It may be to do with tides, but most likely the variation in fish numbers. At present the Sound of Eriskay is calm, ‘warm’ and rich in nutrition, and therefore it’s likely that there’s plenty of fish and crabs and such like for the seals. That said, the seals are most commonly hauled out here during the winter!

  2. Well, we saw the sign to watch out for them on the Causeway but never saw them is May too early? Is there a seal season?
