Akismet : Falsely Accused
Jonathan & Denise >
Very occasionally we’ve checked out the contents of Akismet’s SPAM ‘recepticle’ : it’s always been full of those tedious and ridiculous spam comments, and none of those have ever got through to our published pages and posts, we’ve assumed it’s been doing an excellent job – and generally left it to get on with it.
Today, however, J was taking a quick peek, and was surprised to find, on the first two pages of spam, four comments from two WordPress bloggers who most regularly comment on our posts. It was difficult to understand why they had been marked as spam, as they contained no links.
Fortunately we were able to approve these falsely accused comments, but we will now be checking Akismet more frequently. We can only wonder how many good comments we may have missed.
This happens to me, too, and I check the Spam folder ever day. Usually junk, but occasionally a blogging friend’s comment will get tucked in. Don’t know why.
Oh my! Was I one of those who had commented and was falsely accused by Akismet? Or am I in trouble?
J > I have rescued you from the very gates of Spam – and given Akismet a stern telling off!
Maybe I had better check mine.. thanks for letting us bloggers know that happened.
