Jonathan: Today was the appointed day for our visit from Katia, after her long journey across the Atlantic. But whilst it’s certainly rained virtually all day, there’s been little or no wind at all. At lunchtime the cloud thinned so much we thought we might yet get to use up that bottle of factor 30. We seem to be right under the eye of this storm too, like the one a day or two ago. Typical of the centre of a deep low – no wind, but lots of rain. But all the work to get the greenhouses protected? All for nothing! Still, we won’t be taking them down now – it won’t be long before we start getting our own home-grown storms, which tend to be very Britishly understated (ie worse than expected) instead of the typically hyped-up ones made in the US of A.
