It’s more than a decade since we completed reconstruction of Eight Askernish, and the house started a new life as a self-catering holiday cottage. Since then, there have been no big changes or dramatic further development, and yet the cumulative effect after eleven years of maintenance, repairs and small improvements is readily apparent when comparing photographs of now and then – as in this Askernish Update.
Jonathan was at Askernish a few days ago to cut the grass and replace the privacy lock on the bathroom door (fortunately we have a spare of exactly the same design – so that’s another imperceptible change!). It was a lovely summer day, and he took a few photos ‘for the family album’ – as one does.
Seeing them for myself, I was struck by how established Askernish now looks – compared to when the reconstruction work was complete ; or even to how it was before then, when we bought the place. What do you think?
