Black Dog Here, Black Dog There
Denise >
Today’s a sunny day, here in South Uist, a day of vivid blues and greens – and black.
Here’s Tilly, very considerately posing for a photo (well, waiting for a treat!) with me on the shore path at Smercleit, a favourite walk of ours – just a mile from here.
I say ‘with me’, but I’m taking the photo, not in it, and J’s not here to take me and Tilly together ; he’s busy taking a photo of the other Black Labrador in our extended family.

It’s black here too – but at this time of year, in the middle district of Navarra, the landscape’s less green than shades of brown ; and the sky’s too hazy to be as blue in Uist.
Here’s Lur with our grandson Enaut (now nearly two years old), waiting for Catherine and I to finish fiddling with phones and set off for our walk up to and around the old castle grouns at the top of the hill, here in San Martín de Unx.
But first we need to put shoes on Enaut!
So darned cute!
Gosh, how he’s grown!
J > He’s got my ‘tall genes’, we think – he’s strikingly taller than Spanish children his age. I’m 6’4″ and my father and grandfather were tall as well.
