Amy (our AutoSleepers Amethyst) has been brought ‘home’ from storage in The Boatshed on our croft in Eriskay (where she has been since March 2020 – the start of the pandemic). We’re getting her ready to be put officially back on the road – ie tested, insured, taxed. In anticipation of which we have bought tickets for our first journey away together since late 2019 (when we took the ferry to the nearby nearby island of Barra, for a few days). And, having tickets, we will travel!
We’ll be travelling to Wales – to Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire, and more particularly to our new house, known as Brynhedd. We completed the purchase about three weeks ago, but so far it is only our daughter Becky who has been there : thanks to lock-downs, we bought without even leaving home, here in the Outer Hebrides!
However, our journey – despite being on ‘single’ tickets – is not us moving home : we’re accompanying a pantechnicon full of furniture that’ll be loaded with about two thirds of our furniture and appliances, or perhaps half our total moveables, overall. The total operation will be costing us about £6000, so we’re considering moving the remainder ourselves, with a large hired van : two trips might be necessary. We won’t be leaving Uist until early or mid October. Or at least that’s what we currently expect.
