Lava, lunches, and long-distance walks
Denise:
I can’t remember the last time I had so many new experiences in such a short time! Lava, lunches, and long-distance walks – they’re the least of it!
I was, of course, being ironic about our quiet Sunday: it was quite full compared to what I’m used to!
Even so, the three days since have been quite hectic – I think I may be at risk of overload! I wouldn’t want that for you, so here’s the highlights –
Monday – Cactii and Cochineal Beetles (the carapaces of which I use for dyeing wool red)
Tuesday at Teguise: Lava Bombs ; Lava Tubes ; Lunch and Lord-only-knows-what-this-garden-is-all-about. And then home in the dark via the LZ1.
Wednesday – Exploring far and wide ; LZ1 LZ2 LZ3 ; GR131 again ; Vineyards a la Geriatric (yes, really, geriatric vineyards) with all the vines planted in those wee lava-walled hollows set into the volcanic ash ; a Spanish trig-point (for J at home). Got lost yet again in the navigational black-hole named San Bartolome – trig point notwithstanding! And last but certainly not least – Josefa (our landlady) brought us fresh peas and beans from her garden – and through a challenging conversation in Spanish we learned that she was (or is?) a teacher of art, and the oil paintings at Casa Buenavista were painted by her.
Looks so good! Envy you the sleeveless sunshine.
