Mayday, Eventide
Jonathan & Denise >
Mayday – the First of May, and gloriously sunny! Early evening, we walked along the lane to the hill-gate, then up on to the rugged slopes of Easabhal. Following the banks of the ancient catch-water drain, eastward and below the summit of Easabhal, we reached Loch na Bràthad, then descending – eastward again – to Gleann Dail bho Dheas. [See map from a previous walk] We returned home along the coastal road. This was a much longer walk than we’d originally intended : nearly seven miles , with about 550m of ascent and descent, and for more than half that distance over extremely uneven ground.
By the time we reached this old croft house, still about a mile from home, we were tired, from not only this walk, but also swimming earlier in the day, at the sports centre. But we weren’t so tired as to dull our appreciation of the beautiful sunset, and the extraordinary way it colours the landscape! Lovely picture! Too bad no one lives in this old croft house. It has a beautiful view!
D > It’s very exposed to stormy seas, in winter frequently lashed by spray.
That was some walk! And a most beautiful sunset.
