Nine lives, Six Senses
Jonathan & Denise >
Tabatha, like all our cats, has a sixth sense – an uncanny knack for knowing that a door that is ordinarily kept closed has been opened.
In this case, it seems the door in question is the bonnet of our car. Whenever I open the bonnet of the car or the van, Tabatha – or one or more of the others, is certain to appear and jump up to investigate inside.
The reason cats have nine lives is to allow for the trouble that sixth sense gets them into! However, as I don’t know how many lives they have left, I never walk away with the bonnet up and the engine running.
Yes, I know what you mean. I have to be very careful with my back porch door. Its unheated on that back porch and there is a hole in the plywood floor next to the remains of some disconnected old pipes. At times, one or two of our kitties have escaped out there and have scrambled out into the cold icy winter snow, much to thier dismay. They are so cold and cry to come back inside. If I am gone for an extended period of time, the cat caught out could freeze to death.
D > Oh my goodness that’s a terrible thought. But there is nothing that attracts a cat more than a hole … and door openings are just very big holes!
