The peas-and-beans harvests are in full swing, and it looks like it’s going to be a good year. (It would be better if the peas weren’t raided by mice every night!) D does the peas, J the beans. Ninety-nine percent of both go to the freezers, as we’ve far too much to eat anything other than a tiny fraction right now, and because there is probably nothing else that survives nine to ten months deep frozen and is almost as good as it was just a few minutes after harvesting ; and few other vegetables as useful as peas and beans.
