  1. She is such a pretty pony, standing there so tall and strong and wild and free! How is it that nobody has ever tried to catch or tame these ponies? Surely they are decedents of equines that were once domesticated?

    • J > Technically, they all have owners and must be tagged. They are gathered (not very reliably) twice a year, up to the hill grazings in spring, back down to below the hill fence in late Autumn. In practice, though, they are left to fend for themselves. It’s more accurate to say that the ponies for domestic use were taken out of the wild stock, and apparently they are very easy to domesticate – they seem to enjoy being part of human life!
